A road accident occurred this Sunday morning in Ciudad San Cristóbal, Mixco, when a sedan vehicle crashed into an electrical power pole on 8th Avenue and 3rd Street. The incident caused traffic complications and affected the supply of electricity in several sectors.

The pilot was identified as Stuardo García Durán, who was placed in charge of the National Civil Police (PNC), explained Mynor Espinoza, spokesperson for the Municipality of Mixco.

He added that the impact damaged an electric power pole and several mupis located in the sector.

“Due to the damage caused, several sectors of Ciudad San Cristóbal were left without electricity service,” said Espinoza.

The spokesperson added that the interruption of supply also affected five water wells that supply residents of the sector, due to the interruption of electricity.

The Municipal Traffic Police (PMT) of Mixco enabled a reversible lane to speed up vehicular circulation, because the lanes remain blocked due to the work being carried out at the site.

“We have already enabled a reversible lane to facilitate the passage of vehicles heading to Guatemala City, while work is carried out to remove the vehicle and repair the damage,” said Espinoza.

Authorities recommended motorists use alternate routes. Among the options are the Roosevelt road and La Comunidad boulevard, to join Las Charcas, zone 11 of Mixco.
