The Guatemalan Social Security Institute (IGSS) informed members, pensioners and beneficiaries that administrative offices and outpatient clinics throughout the country will remain closed on Monday, June 29, due to the transfer of the holiday to Army Day.
The institution indicated that care will resume normally on Tuesday, June 30.
The IGSS added that hospital emergency services and 24-hour care in offices and peripheral units will operate normally during the holiday.
The Army Day holiday will generate a long weekend in Guatemala. Although the official date is commemorated on June 30, this year it will be moved to Monday the 29th.
On April 16, 2020, the Constitutional Court annulled the provision that allowed the holidays corresponding to May 1 and October 20 to be moved, so the only holiday that can be modified is June 30, Army Day.
June 30 is an official holiday in Guatemala, as established in article 127 of the Labor Code.
The date remembers the participation of the Armed Forces in the military movement of 1871.
