Prensa Libre detected a fraudulent site on the Internet that improperly uses its visual identity, logo and design to spread completely false content. The page, hosted on the domain superlabs77.shop, pretends to be a legitimate publication of the medium and disseminates invented information related to businessmen Dionisio Gutiérrez and Mario López Estrada, with the apparent purpose of promoting an alleged investment platform.
The false publication presents an alleged report in which it claims, without any support, that Mario López Estrada and Dionisio Gutiérrez financed the development of a platform called Guatex GPT, designed to generate high returns through artificial intelligence. Likewise, he invents a dispute between both businessmen over access to that tool and falsely claims that a will by López Estrada led to a judicial process that forced the platform to be released to any Guatemalan citizen.
The content also attributes non-existent statements to people and institutions, including the president of the Bank of Guatemala, Álvaro González Ricci, and even mentions alleged judicial resolutions, million-dollar fines and pronouncements by authorities of the Ministry of Economy.
None of these statements correspond to publications made by Prensa Libre nor do they have journalistic support. In addition, the note includes photographs of well-known people, apparently simulated comments and testimonies about supposed financial gains to give the appearance of credibility.
As part of the deception, the site invites readers to register on a platform and make money deposits with the promise of obtaining extraordinary returns in a few hours. This type of message constitutes a common practice in digital fraud, in which the image and credibility of media outlets, companies or public figures are used to induce people to hand over personal information or economic resources.
Prensa Libre reiterates that the content published on the superlabs77.shop site is completely false and has no relation to this medium. Likewise, it recommends that users always verify that the information comes from official Prensa Libre channels and be wary of pages that reproduce their graphic identity to spread misleading publications or promote supposed investment opportunities.
