Rock, friendship and solidarity come together in two concerts led by the Guatemalan band Overload, who seek to raise funds for the medical treatments of two of their friends: José Luis González, known as “El Chato”, and Sergio Barillas, alias “El Melo”.
Under the names ChatoFest and MeloFest, the concerts will take place on July 7 and 16, respectively, in two stages: TrovaJazz, in zone 4 of Guatemala City, and Teatro Delirio, in zone 10.
Rodolfo Martín, vocalist of the band, says that José Luis González, known as “El Chato”, and Sergio Barillas, alias “El Melo”, are going through health problems. The first, due to complications in the digestive system that have led to several surgeries; the second, because cancer was detected again and he is in the middle of chemotherapy and other treatments.
“We think that If God gave us that talent, we have to put it at the service of others.. “They are going to have a great time and will have the satisfaction of helping a person and a family who have been through this great pain and anguish,” adds the singer.
ChatoFest will take place on Tuesday, July 7, at 8 p.m., at TrovaJazzVía 6, 3-55, zone 4 of Guatemala City. Sociedad Anónima will participate, as the opening band, and Overload.
Tickets for this presentation can be purchased through a bank transfer to the savings account of Banco Industrial No. 3753071, in the name of Wendy García Rodas, wife of “El Chato.” The donation is Q100.
MeloFest will be on Thursday, July 16 at Teatro Delirio, kilometer 7.5 of Los Próceres Boulevard, zone 10 of Guatemala City. The band Chamaleón will open the concert and will give way again to Overload. The doors will open at 7 p.m. and the concert will begin at 9 p.m.

“We will have eighties rock, but also younger groups. Our children and nephews are the members of the opening bands, because the next generation of musicians is coming. The idea is to bring together as many people as possible, both adults and young people, and together, be able to help.“says Martín.
Overload is a Guatemalan rock band founded in 2022 by musicians who had been part of groups such as Piedras Negras, Misión, Rubik, Pepió and Killer Queen, among others.
It is made up of Rodolfo Martín, lead vocals; Alex Murillo, keyboard; Juan Carlos Sosa, bass; Rodolfo Rohrmoser, drums; Alex Baldizón, guitar, and his son, Cristian Baldizón, as guest guitarist. They have joined forces and talent for these charity concerts, as they have done on other occasions for different purposes.
