Guatemala lived two days of national demonstrations and blockages After the Government published four agreements for the mandatory motorcycle insurance, private vehicles, urban passenger transport and cargo vehicles.

In some of the blockages, the demonstrations became tense, while motorists were trapped for several hours in the protests.

The night of Wednesday, March 19, The President of the Republic, Bernardo Arévalo, reported that he repealed the agreements that gave life to the mandatory insurance.

The president indicated that agreements were reached with the sectors involved in the protests, with the aim of releasing the roads.

This Thursday, March 20, the Presidency of the Republic published in the Central America Diary Government agreements 56, 57, 58 and 59.

With the publication, Agreements 46, 47, 48 and 49, related to the mandatory insurance for vehicles.

The publication stressed that, derived from the agreements and consensus achieved during the dialogue process to ensure effective compliance with traffic regulations, it was considered imperative to repeal the provisions issued to include more sectors of the Guatemalan population in its socialization process and review the legal framework in force in transport.
