United States TSA evaluates security and cyberamezas at La Aurora airport

TSA personnel carry out an evaluation of security procedures at the La Aurora International Airport, with the purpose of supporting its optimization.

This Monday, March 24, the DGAC reported through a statement that the interim director, Azucena Zelaya, received members of the TSA, as part of periodic evaluation visits.

The document indicates that Brian Richardson, leader of the TSA team, explained that the objective of the visit is to review the quality, access control, aircraft safety, luggage, land operations, possible cyber -peaks and intervention of illicit.

It was added that the visit will also allow to know the security and infrastructure protocols of the La Aurora International Airport.

DGAC authorities indicated that this visit is part of a periodic air security evaluation and will take place during this week.

The document states that the representatives of the TSA will work together with the DGAC team to examine security systems and operational aspects, with the aim of strengthening security measures and guaranteeing compliance with international standards.

Zelaya highlighted, according to the statement, the importance of the visit and collaboration of the TSA to improve the country’s air security and maintain high international standards.

The official said: The visit of the TSA reinforces Guatemala’s commitment to air safety and international cooperation. These types of evaluations are fundamental to continue strengthening our abilities and ensuring travelers’ safety.

According to official information, at the end of the visit, recommendations and actions will be issued to optimize security processes at the La Aurora International Airport.

These actions will benefit both passengers and the aviation industry in the country, read in the document.

It is added that the DGAC will continue working together with international organizations such as TSA to guarantee a safe and efficient environment at Guatemalan airports.

On December 11, 2024, the TSA published on its website information about another visit to La Aurora International Airport, together with the Customs Office and Border Protection (CBP). On that occasion, Elizabeth Cruz, a specialist in transport security of the Regional Operations Center of Miami, commented that the TSA considers the airport as another border that leads to the United States.
