A privileged motion presented by a group of opposition deputies, hopes that in the session this Tuesday, March 25, Congress can leave the salary increase without effect.
A privileged motion presented on Tuesday at the Congress of the Republic, seeks to repeal the 31-2024 legislative agreement that authorized a salary increase for the deputies.
The motion was signed by deputies José Chic, Orlando Blanco and Jairo Flores, Evelyn Morataya and Cristián Álvarez.
The proposal is that through a new agreement the Congress cancels the increase in the salary enjoyed by deputies since February.
“The total content of the third point of the 31-2024 Legislative Agreement of the Congress of the Republic of Guatemala is repealed, as of the date on which this legislative agreement becomes valid, leaving without effect all the proceedings related to the aforementioned point,” reads in the first article of the proposed agreement.
The second and last article orders that “the agreement immediately enters into force.”
