The story that portrays the life of Jesus Christ and that of his disciples returns to the screen, this time with the last moments of the messiah on the way to the cross of Calvary. This new season will have a split premiere, planned for streaming and movie theaters.
After Judas led the Roman soldiers and the Pharisees to the Garden of Olives, or Gethsemane, where he handed over Jesus, the sixth season picks up on the messiah’s final hours before his crucifixion.
“The time has come. Before the sun sets, Jesus will die,” says part of the synopsis of the sixth season, which will show from when Jesus is handed over by Judas to when he is taken before Pontius Pilate, whom the members of the Sanhedrin, known as high priests, demanded his death by accusing him of blasphemy.
As highlighted on the official website of The Chosen (The Chosen), the sixth season episodes will narrate the events of Jesus’ last day through the lives of those around him. This narrative will dive into the perspectives of those who love and follow him, as well as those who condemn him.
“The Pharisees call it justice. The Romans, peace. His followers, murder,” the synopsis emphasizes, while highlighting that, in this time, Jesus will carry the burden of humanity to the cross of Calvary, remaining faithful to his Father’s plans.
On the cross, Jesus will finally fulfill the sacrifice that God has planned to save humanity, a narrative that will be explored during the six episodes that will make up this new season.
Through a press release, The Chosen shared that the sixth season will premiere on November 15, 2026, with the release of the first three episodes.
After that premiere, a new episode will be released each week until December 6. The statement, shared with Prensa Libre, highlights that the end of the season will arrive in the first quarter of 2027, but this time it will be released in theaters.
The new season will arrive through the platform streaming Prime Video in Latin American countries. The film will come from Amazon MGM Studios and will be released worldwide in theaters, as highlighted The Chosen.
