The commemoration of Holy Week comes to an end this April 5, when the resurrection of Jesus Christ announced in the biblical gospels is remembered, in which the story of the messiah in the face of death is remembered. On this day, the Guatemalan Catholic Church celebrates with various processions.
Among carpets of sawdust, the processional processions that announce the resurrection of Jesus will advance and give the good news to Catholic believers, who with devotion, joy and faith celebrate this day.
The Historic Center of Guatemala and the colonial city of Antigua Guatemala will experience the end of Holy Week among flowers, the smell of corozo, clouds of incense and the sound of funeral marches.
Processions such as the procession of the Risen Jesus of La Merced; the procession of the Risen Jesus of the Santísimo Nombre de Jesús parish, temple of La Recolección, in Guatemala City; and the procession of the Risen Jesus of the village of San Pedro Las Huertas, in Antigua Guatemala, will mark the end of the liturgical time that makes this celebration Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
