At least two women and two men were killed shot this Holy Saturday, April 4, in Escuintla, for reasons that are under investigation, as confirmed by the relief forces of the Central American country.
The attack, perpetrated with a firearm, took place in the municipality of La Gomera, about 75 kilometers south of Guatemala City, according to versions of the Volunteer Firefighters, who covered the emergency.
The bodies of the deceased were left in a vacant lot within the community called Nuevo Texcuaco, in the municipality of La Gomera.
The attack takes place in the middle of the Holy Week celebrations, that mobilize around 3.5 million inhabitants.
The circumstances of the incident have not been disclosed by the authorities.who are investigating the crime scene.
Murders with firearms increased by 3.8% in Guatemala during 2025 compared to 2024, according to official calculations.
According to the National Institute of Forensic Sciences (Inacif), last year there were 3,020 shooting murders while that in 2024 there were 2,910 shooting homicides.

During this Holy Week, The relief forces count six more murders in Guatemala, although the authorities will be the ones to confirm the final count next Monday along with the accidents recorded on the holiday.
