From interactions with humans to scaring away wild boars, Edward Warchocki, a humanoid robot, has caused a stir on social networks due to his interactions, which have placed him in the public eye and generated debate.

Edward Warchocki has become a social phenomenon and a viral character in Poland after appearing on social networks scaring wild boars in the streets of Warsaw or during visits to the Polish Parliament.

According to its owners and creators of the character on the internet, Radosław Grzelaczyk and Bartosz Idzik, the android’s videos have accumulated more than 1.5 billion views on social networks in just 45 days.

The appearances of “Edek”, as its creators call it, have caused a sensation due to the ease with which the robot interacts with people on the street, on public transport and in stores.

One of the most shocking episodes starring “Edek” occurred on Saturday, April 11, when the robot was captured while chasing three wild boars through the streets of Warsaw, shouting “get out!” in Polish.

The video went viral and sparked a debate among Internet users about the use of androids to control urban fauna as a non-lethal alternative to traditional hunts.

It also raised ethical questions about the stress caused to the animals, known for skulking around landfills in the Polish capital in search of food.

The android even arrived at the Polish Parliament on March 24, when it was invited by the Confederation party on the occasion of a conference on artificial intelligence (AI) and robotization.

During his visit, Edward did not limit himself to being a showpiece, but gave a humorous speech in which he requested salary increases for Parliament employees, interacted with some politicians and cracked jokes.

Edward Warchocki is not only a humanoid robot, but he has become an “influencer”, a viral figure on the internet.

As explained to EFE by its creators, Radosław Grzelaczyk and Bartosz Idzik, founders of MERARobotics, they developed the robot’s proprietary software system, MERA OS (its so-called “brain”), to give life to Edward Warchocki.

Just 132 cm tall and equipped with 3D LiDAR (a remote sensing system that uses laser pulses to measure distances to objects and environments), Edward Warchocki has become a media star in Poland who also runs marathons, dances on television and collaborates with luxury brands.
