French international Eduardo Camavinga, Real Madrid midfielder, apologized this Thursday to the fans and his teammates through his social networks, after the red card he saw against Bayern Munich, an action that left his team with one man less in the decisive stretch of the second leg of the Champions League quarterfinals.
“I take responsibility for my part. I want to apologize to my team and to all Madrid fans. Thank you for your support. Hala Madrid, always”the footballer wrote on his social networks hours after the match played at the Allianz Arena.
Camavinga entered the field of play in the 62nd minute to replace Brahim Díaz, when Real Madrid was winning 2-3 and kept the tie tied, after the 1-2 scoreline achieved by the Bavarian team in the first leg played at the Santiago Bernabéu stadium.
However, the French midfielder was the protagonist in the final stretch of the match. In the 78th minute he received his first yellow card and, in the 86th minute, he was cautioned again after committing a foul on Harry Kane. Camavinga then moved the ball with his foot before taking it with his hands, an action sanctioned by Slovenian referee Slavko Vincic, which led to his expulsion.
With one less player, Real Madrid was unable to maintain the lead and ended up giving up in the final minutes. In the 89th minute a 3-3 tie came through Luis Díaz, a result that tipped the balance in favor of Bayern. In added time, at 94, Michael Olise scored the final 4-3, with which the German team sealed the comeback.
In this way, Real Madrid was eliminated from the Champions League and ended its participation in the continental tournament.
