Judge rejects change of crime for those accused of kidnapping the dentist Julio Amílcar Martínez

Judge Eduardo Orozco, in charge of the High Risk Court B, declared this Tuesday, April 21, without merit the request for modification of the crime presented by the accused Juan Ubaldo Castillo, Juan Oswaldo Tzul and Carlos Antonio González, involved in the kidnapping of the dentist Julio Amílcar Martínez, who has been missing since May 2025.

The accused sought for the judge to modify the crime of plagiarism or kidnapping to that of self-concealment.

The request was made prior to the start of the intermediate stage hearing.

Julio Leonardo Girón Castañeda and Paola Isabel de Tzul are also involved in this case.

According to the investigation, the victim was intercepted on May 28, 2025 at kilometer 36 of the highway to El Salvador. For the ransom, Q5 million was asked from the family in exchange for his release, of which a partial payment of Q763 thousand was made.

To date, the victim remains missing.
