On that same day, Díaz Gallego finished 16th, which confirmed a solid start for Burgos Burpellet BH in a technical and high-paced stage.

Second stage marked by the victory and the tribute of Nairo Quintana

The second stage featured the Colombian Nairo Quintana, who won alone and became the new leader of the Vuelta a Asturias. The victory of the experienced Movistar Team rider was full of emotion, as it was dedicated to his compatriot Cristian Camilo Muñoz, who recently died due to health complications after an accident in Europe.

Muñoz maintained a special bond with Guatemalan cycling, having competed in the most recent Vuelta a Guatemala with the Nu Colombia team, which gave even greater meaning to the tribute paid by Quintana.

On this day, considered one of the hardest of the route, Chumil had a great participation in the queen stage, of 140 kilometers, and finished in tenth position, 3 minutes and 48 seconds behind the winner. This result allowed him to climb positions and establish himself among the best in the general classification.

Chumil, ninth overall

After two stages held, the Guatemalan cyclist rose to ninth position in the general classification, 4 minutes and 1 second behind the leader, Nairo Quintana, with the same time as his teammate José Manuel Díaz Gallego.

The presence of two riders from Burgos Burpellet BH within the top 10 demonstrates the tactical work of the team and the good form of Chumil, who continues to reaffirm himself as one of the most competitive Central American cyclists in the European peloton.
