The First Court of Criminal Sentencing, Narcoactivity and Crimes against the Environment of Jutiapa ordered that two Mexicans convicted of drug trafficking pay Q43 million each in dignified reparation.
The resolution was issued after the Drug Crimes Prosecutor’s Office of the Public Ministry (MP) presented the evidence against José Emiliano Maldonado and Julio César Rosales.
In addition to the million-dollar payment, both were sentenced to 18 years and three months in incommutable prison for the crime of illicit trade, trafficking and storage.
The court also imposed a fine of Q500 thousand on them.
According to the MP’s investigation, Those now sentenced were captured on October 8, 2017, after landing in an aircraft on the Monterrico farm, Llanitos village, Asunción Mita, Jutiapa.
The authorities indicated that the aircraft was transporting 419 packages of cocaine, with a total weight of 487.46 kilograms.
The sentence was handed down by the First Court of Criminal Sentencing, Narcoactivity and Crimes against the Environment of Jutiapa, after the analysis of the evidence presented during the debate.
