The Public Ministry (MP), following up on complaints of threats received in different educational centers, carried out operations this Thursday, May 7.
He added that the Prosecutor’s Office for Adolescents in Conflict with the Criminal Law carried out prevention, investigation and inter-institutional coordination actions to protect the safety of students, teachers and administrative staff.
According to the MP, as part of these actions, the prosecutor’s office implemented the #PreventionActionCivilJustice campaign and coordinated efforts with the Safe Schools program of the National Civil Police (PNC), the Attorney General’s Office, the Human Rights Ombudsman’s Office and the Social Welfare Secretariat of the Presidency.
The investigating entity explained that, among the procedures carried out, PNC agents, in coordination with authorities of the educational centers where messages with phrases such as “shooting tomorrow” or warnings not to attend classes on specific datesthey made backpack inspections and other safety actions, with the aim of preventing risks and guaranteeing a safe environment for students.
The MP stated that, as a result of the investigations carried out by the Prosecutor’s Office for Adolescents in Conflict with the Criminal Law, the competent judge was requested to order the kidnapping of four telephone devices used by the alleged adolescent offenders, as part of the procedures to strengthen the investigation and establish possible responsibilities.
The MP stressed that the actions promoted by the aforementioned prosecutor’s office are framed in the law, by virtue of the fact that it is in charge of the procedure to establish the existence of a transgression of the criminal law, determine the possible participation of those responsible and promote the imposition of the corresponding measures.
