According to Dennis Cisneros, head of the Anti-Kidnapping Prosecutor’s Office of the Public Ministry (MP), the event occurred on May 28, 2025, when the dentist was intercepted while driving to El Jocotillo, Villa Calanes.
That day, Martínez Murillo left his home, located on the route to El Salvador, heading to his clinic in El Jocotillo. On the way, he made a stop at a shopping center. According to the investigation, at least three vehicles were following him.

“Martínez’s wife every time she called him asked for proof of life; they sent her audios via WhatsApp,” Cisneros explained.
The last time the wife had contact with Martínez Murillo was a day before the money was delivered.

The authorities identified that man as Ubaldo Tzul Castillo, identified as Girón Castañeda’s trusted messenger.
According to the investigations, Tzul Castillo lived approximately one kilometer from the meeting point, in the Santa Fe neighborhood, zone 13.
During the hearing, Tzul Castillo indicated that the money was delivered the next day in a cafeteria on the road to El Salvador.
