Barcelona announced this Monday the renewal of the coach Hansi Flick for one more season, so the German coach will continue to lead the team until June 30, 2028. with the option to extend the link until 2029.

The signing of the new contract took place in a private event at the club’s offices at the Spotify Camp Nou, with the presence of the president-elect Joan Laporta, the vice president Rafael Yuste and the sports director Deco, among other leaders.

Flick, 61, had already expressed during the season his desire to continue on the Barça bench and weeks ago he confirmed that the agreement was practically closed.

The German coach arrived at Barcelona in the summer of 2024 to replace Xavi Hernández, after a complicated campaign marked by poor results and sporting instability.

However, its impact was immediate. In his first season he won the national treble and led the team to the semifinals of the Champions League. In the current campaign he also added the LaLiga titles and the Spanish Super Cup.

In total, Flick has accumulated five titles out of a possible eight since his arrival at the Catalan club. Beyond the championships, the German coach managed to recover Barcelona’s football identity with an offensive, dynamic and possession-based style, something that reconnected with both the fans and the squad.

Furthermore, given the club’s financial limitations to make large signings, Flick opted to enhance the talent of La Masia and get the best out of young players like Lamine Yamal, Fermín López, Pedri and Pau Cubarsí, combining them with experienced players like Robert Lewandowski and Raphinha.

Before signing his renewal, Flick participated alongside the captain Ronald Araujo and the club’s leaders in a symbolic act where they were placed in the Barcelona museum The trophies won this season: LaLiga and the Spanish Super Cup.
