British actor Anthony Head, who appeared in series such as Ted Lasso either Buffy the Vampire Slayerdied this Friday, June 5, at the age of 72, due to complications from pneumonia, as confirmed by his family in a statement.
“It is with great sadness that we announce the death of our extraordinary father, Anothy Head. He died peacefully after complications from pneumonia and surrounded by his family,” wrote his daughters, actresses Emily and Daisy Head, in a note sent to the British news agency Press Association.
Head rose to fame thanks to his role as librarian Rupert Giles in the American series Buffy the Vampire Slayerbetween 1997 and 2003, and in recent years he participated in the football comedy Ted Lasso giving life to Rupert Mannion, former owner of the Richmond FC soccer team
He also had small roles in other series such as Doctor Who either Marlineand cameos in films like The Iron Lady 2011) or Percy Jackson and the Sea of Monsters2013), among others.
The actor’s daughters said that Dead “loved” his work and always felt “incredibly lucky” to be able to work with very talented people, and they assured that his “friends, colleagues and fans of the series in which he participated” will mourn his death.
His partner, animal activist Sarah Fisher, died in December last year at the age of 61.
