The Football Association (FA) confirmed the incident and the Kansas City Police (KCPD) opened an investigation to determine the circumstances of the disappearance of the material.
According to British and American media reports, among the items reported missing were players’ boots, balls and training equipment used by the English team.
Later, authorities reported the arrest of two people linked to the investigation.
According to information released by local media, part of the equipment was recovered and the FA managed the replacement of other items necessary for the team’s preparation.
The incident did not alter England’s sporting calendar.
The team led by Thomas Tuchel keeps its training scheduled in Kansas City and prepares its debut in the World Cup, scheduled for June 17 against Croatia.
They will later face Ghana and Panama in the group stage.
Logistical challenges of a large-scale tournament
The case highlights the logistical complexity of a World Cup organized in three countries and with the participation of 48 teams.
The transfer of equipment, personnel and resources between different venues represents one of the main operational challenges of the tournament.
The FA declined to provide further details while police investigations continue.
Another fact investigated in Mexico
Separately, authorities in Tijuana, Mexico, reported the discovery of a body inside a vehicle parked near the Caliente Stadium.
The Baja California Attorney General’s Office is investigating the case as a homicide.
So far, authorities have not reported links between the investigation and the Iran team or the organization of the 2026 World Cup.
The Iranian team uses facilities in Tijuana as a training center during its preparation for the tournament.
