A “Xoyita” transport bus was the protagonist of a traffic accident on the morning of this Sunday, June 21, when the public transport unit ended up at the bottom of a ravine.
The mishap occurred on the route to Los Encuentros, in the sector known as the slopes of Molina El Tesoro, in Chichicastenango, according to the report from relief bodies.
The reasons for the accident until now have not been clear, but the report from the Volunteer Fire Department rules out people who died after the accident.
The paramedics and community members who approached the scene of the accident shared on their social networks that all the bus crew members were rescued.
The firefighters had to use stretchers and cables to rescue all the passengers, of whom 12 were transferred to hospitals in Chichicastenango and Santa Cruz del Quiché.
The accident brought together several rescue corps units, which worked together to rescue the passengers.
