Nine people died due to acts of violence and traffic accidents reported by emergency services between Sunday night and the early hours of Monday, June 22.
Two men lost their lives in an armed attack in section G of the El Milagro neighborhood, zone 6 of Mixco, reported the Municipal Firefighters of that municipality. The attack occurred on a street where there were several parked vehicles.
The Departmental Municipal Firefighters detailed in their report that, on the route to the village of Plantón Cocajol, San Antonio La Paz, El Progreso, they located on the side of the road the body of a man with multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was attacked while walking along the side of the road.
In another event, they reported that at kilometer 85 of the Inter-American route, a man who was traveling on a bicycle was hit by a vehicle that continued moving. Lifeguards tried to help him, but the person no longer had vital signs. The body was left on the side of the road next to the bicycle, which suffered severe damage.
They also reported that a man was run over and killed at kilometer 21 of the route to the Pacific. According to the report, the victim was left on one of the lanes and died from multiple trauma.
The Municipal Traffic Police (PMT) of Fraijanes reported the death of a person at kilometer 25 of the highway to El Salvador, heading towards the capital.
He added that the corresponding authorities are at the scene carrying out the procedures and investigations. The PMT advised drivers to take precautions and consider possible traffic delays.
The PMT also reported that at kilometer 29, always on the route to El Salvador, a private vehicle and a motorcycle were involved in a traffic incident.
As a result, a woman accompanying the motorcyclist died at the scene and the motorcycle driver was taken to a hospital.
The PMT and the National Civil Police coordinate actions in the sector while the corresponding procedures are carried out.
The Volunteer Firefighters reported that a person died in an accident at kilometer 82 of route CA-2, in Siquinalá, Escuintla.

First responders located the agricultural truck P-799JSC at the scene. The deceased person was under the vehicle.
The Volunteer Firefighters also warned that a motorcyclist died in a road accident at km 88.6 of National Route 14.
The PMT of Villa Nueva reports about motorists injured in a traffic accident at the entrance to the south boulevard of San Cristóbal. Vehicular mobility is affected in the area.
