This Wednesday, June 24, Miami International Airport joined the jokes that have circulated on social networks about an alleged appearance of aliens during the match between Brazil and Scotland, corresponding to the third day of Group C of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Through its official account on X, the airport published a message in which it simulated an alert from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
“The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has just issued an official airspace restriction for tonight’s match between Scotland and Brazil due to reports of… unusual aerial activity in the region.”
The publication was accompanied by an image of a flying saucer over the airport facilities and a UFO emoticon, making the humorous tone of the message clear.
The origin of the viral theory
The joke arose after a Brazilian psychic claimed on a television program that she had dreamed of the appearance of extraterrestrials during the match between Brazil and Scotland, scheduled to be played at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami.
His statements quickly went viral and gave rise to a wave of memes, montages and humorous theories shared by social media users.
A game with a lot at stake
Beyond the curious story that has surrounded the match, Brazil-Scotland has an important weight in the definition of Group C.
Brazil faces the third day with four points and a goal difference of +3, the same points as Morocco, although with a better scoring balance. Scotland has three units and maintains a chance to qualify for the next round.
A victory would allow the Scots to advance to the knockout stage of a World Cup for the first time. Whether they tie or lose will depend on other results and the classification of the best third parties.
Haiti, for its part, no longer has the chance to advance after losing its first two games.
