Guatemalans will be going to the polls for the election of the next authorities in almost a year, according to the electoral schedule proposal prepared by the plenary session of magistrates of the Supreme Electoral Tribunal (TSE).
This proposal with the main dates of the next electoral event was presented at the monthly meeting of the TSE with the representatives of the current political parties, to whom the electoral calendar was delivered.
This proposal contains in detail the main dates of each of the electoral stages, which are scheduled to begin on Friday, January 22 with the call for the 2027 general elections.
A few hours after the call for elections, in the first minute of Saturday, January 23, political parties can begin registering their candidates with the TSE Citizen Registry.
The registration of candidates is scheduled to end on March 20, 2027, while the period for the different Departmental Electoral Boards to be integrated ends on March 27.
Campaign and elections
The political campaign is scheduled to begin on March 29 and conclude June 25 at noon; while surveys or opinion studies may be published from the call and also conclude at noon on June 25.
The first round of general elections is scheduled for June 27, and a possible second round of presidential elections is scheduled for August 22.
