Juan Orlando Hernández, former president of Honduras, was benefited by a judge in his country who annulled an arrest warrant that had been issued for the crimes of money laundering and fraud in the Pandora Case.
This investigation suggests that state authorities diverted public funds for political-partisan activities, as well as to private accounts.
The investigation was carried out by the Special Fiscal Unit Against Impunity of Corruption and by the Support Mission Against Corruption and Impunity in Honduras, which detected the diversion of millions of lempiras from State institutions to finance political events.
The suspension of the arrest warrant was announced by the former president himself on his social network X, where in addition to announcing his return to Honduras, he ruled out possible electoral intentions for the future.
“We will meet again! I thank God, my beloved family and each of you for your prayers and good wishes on this long and painful path. The recent resolution of the Judiciary, which suspends the arrest warrant, ratifies what I have always maintained: my willingness to appear voluntarily before the law,” indicates the former president.
The former president also said that the criminal case that links him to an alleged network of government corruption in Honduras lacks support, expressing confidence in the future judicial decision.

“In the time established by the judge, I will return to Honduras. I deeply respect our institutions and the Judiciary; I am completely certain that this case lacks legal basis, I am innocent and the truth will come to light. After 4 years of hard ordeal, my only and greatest desire is to hug my family and reunite with my friends,” Indian.
He ended his publication by referring to the current Honduran government authorities, highlighting that his return to the country does not seek to generate social divisions.
“I return as another citizen, to rebuild my life in peace and without any electoral political ambition. I am a firm believer that, if things go well for our government, the Executive Branch, led by President Tito Asfura; the National Congress, under the leadership of Tomás Zambrano; and the mayors, things go well for Honduras. I come to add, not to divide,” he concluded.
They set an audience
Hernández’s lawyer, Mario Cárdenas, confirmed to Infobae that the criminal judge in charge of the Pandora Case set a declaration hearing for the former president on August 3.
“The defendant’s declaration hearing has been scheduled for next August 3. The natural judge declared the voluntary surrender to take place and my client will appear as ordered by the Supreme Court of Justice,” Cárdenas told Infobae.
Juan Orlando Hernández went from being the head of state in Honduras to being a suspect for drug trafficking crimes in the United States, which led the justice system of the North American country to obtain his extradition.
New York prosecutors managed to demonstrate that Hernández ran Honduras as a “narco state,” also accepting million-dollar bribes from drug trafficking groups.
The investigation cost Hernández a conviction of 45 years in prison, but the President of the United States, Donald Trump, pardoned him through a presidential pardon, setting him free.
