Kevin Spacey, American actor, director and producer, tries to resume his professional career in the entertainment industry after several years away from Hollywood.
After the allegations of sexual misconductthe artist stayed away from new productions. However, he has now broken his silence and claims to have good expectations about his return.
During an interview with comedian Bill Maher on the podcast Random Club, Spacey assured that he is beginning to recover his space in the industry, where he has been well received.
“I feel much more welcome and I think things are moving in the direction we hoped“, he expressed.
Throughout the conversation, he recalled the legal processes in which he was involved and highlighted that he obtained favorable rulings in the trials he faced.
Among the most relevant cases, he mentioned the one presented by actor Anthony Rapp in 2017, who accused Spacey of having had inappropriate sexual behavior with him when he was a teenager. and filed a civil lawsuit against him for US$40 million for sexual assault and injuries.
However, in 2022, a New York jury determined that Kevin Spacey was not responsible for those charges.
“There are certain cases where part of something is true, but it has been reframed, redesigned or completely invented, certainly in the case of Anthony Rapp, a case we won in federal court in New York,” he said.
Although he was able to prove his innocence, the accusations against him had consequences:
- Netflix removed him from the series House of Cardswhere he was the protagonist.
- He was replaced by Christopher Plummer in the film All the Money in the World.
- Hollywood banned it for almost 10 years.
Behind closed doors, Spacey participated in independent productions such as Peter Five Eight and The Awakening.
