Oscar Piastri signed a masterful performance this Sunday by winning the Baréin Grand Prix, First appointment of the 2025 calendar of Formula 1. The McLaren Australian pilot made an impeccable race, from the start to the checkered flag, in a day where both his talent and the strategy of the British team shone.
The race in the International Circuit of Baréin started with Piastri from the pole positionand from the first meters made it clear that he was decided to conquer the victory. With a solid rhythm, without errors and excellent tire management, it remained ahead of its main rivals throughout the competition.
Behind piastri, The Monegasco Charles Leclerc achieved a valuable second place for Ferrari, while George Russell completed the podium with Mercedes, also consolidating a great seasonal start for the German team. In the fourth place, Pierre Gasly arrived with Alpine, followed by the young Andrea Kimi Antonelli, who surprised with a solid performance for Mercedes and closed the Top 5.
One of the great absent protagonists of the podium was Max Verstappen. The Dutch, current world champion, had an irregular day that forced him to settle for sixth place. Despite having started from the seventh position, Verstappen never managed to find the rhythm to climb beyond the middle group, being surpassed even by less fast cars on paper.
Pastri’s victory represents a huge step for McLaren, which has not achieved a victory for several seasons. With this performance, the British team is positioned again as one of the strong contenders of the 2025 championship, at least in this first part of the calendar.
Lando Norris, Piastri’s partner, also had an outstanding race after leaving sixth, although he failed to get into the top positions like his coequipero. Even so, McLaren celebrates a dream and promising beginning.
With this result, McLaren is back and ready to fight for everything. The refined team strategy and track performance place the young Australian as one of the great figures to follow this season.
