The Tropical Storm Bertha continues its trajectory along the coast of the Gulf of Mexico and this July 22, the United States authorities have warned that the phenomenon could cause flooding in different states.

According to the latest bulletin from the National Hurricane Center (NHC) of the United States, Bertha could cause flooding in Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and Florida.

According to the NHC, the tropical storm will leave rainfall accumulations of up to six inches, increasing the risk of flash flooding, especially in urban areas.

The NHC detailed that the rains could have a greater impact on Thursday along the Gulf of Mexico coast.

In the last NHC report it was reported that Bertha was 45 miles northwest of the mouth of the Mississippi River.

In addition, it had maximum sustained winds of 50 miles per hour and was moving west at 5 miles per hour.

“This general motion is expected to continue through Friday with a slight acceleration. On the forecast track, Bertha will move near or along the northern Gulf Coast over the next two days,” the NHC explained.

The forecast indicates that Bertha’s passage could generate tides up to 4 feet high, with storm surges that could cause “life-threatening wave conditions and ocean currents.”

The NHC highlighted the New Orleans metropolitan area, Louisiana, as one of the areas that could be affected by the storm.
