The Insivumeh presented its preliminary calendar on the start of the rainy season 2025 in Guatemala, with dates differentiated by regions and warnings on the cannula.

The National Institute of Seismology, Volcanology, Meteorology and Hydrology (Insivumeh) revealed the projections on the beginning of the rainy season 2025 in Guatemala, which covers from May to October.
According to the Insivumeh, the season is characterized by a significant increase in the quantity, intensity and frequency of the downpours. However, he clarifies that, between July and August, there is usually a period of temporary decrease in rainfall, known as the cannula.
Regarding the calendar for the start of the season by regions, the Insivumeh indicates the following:
- In the south of the West, it could be established between the third week of April and the first of May.
- In the north of that same region, it is expected between the first and second week of May.
- In the Bocacosta region, it is estimated that the rains begin between the second week of April and the first of May.
- In the Pacific region, the beginning could be registered between the third week of April and the second of May.
A statement from the National Coordinator for Disaster Reduction (Conred) refers that:
- In the central highlands, the rains are expected to start between the second and third week of May.
- In the valleys of the East, the beginning is forecast between the first and second week of May.
- In the northern region, the North and the Caribbean strip, the rains could be established during the last week of May.
The Conred Executive Secretariat recommends that the population remain informed through official channels, prepare their family response plan, carry out preventive cleaning of drains, ceilings and gutters, and report any risk situation to the competent authorities, as well as telephone number 119.
