One of the most important superhero movies in comics, supermanwill have a sequel called Superman: the man of tomorrowwhich will be led by actors such as David Corenswet and Nicholas Hoult. For this new production it was announced that the actress Adria Arjona will join the DC universe.
A campaign was started on social networks that promoted actress Adria Arjona to reach the DC universe with the character of Wonder Woman; However, it will finally be the character of Máxima that will be played by the daughter of Guatemalan singer-songwriter Ricardo Arjona.
The project, which was written and will be directed by James Gunn, is scheduled to premiere in 2027. The news, released by The Hollywood Reporterhighlights that, after several rounds of camera tests, Adria Arjona was chosen to play this character.
The outlet announced last April that the character of Máxima had four finalists who performed screen tests: Adria Arjona, Eva De Dominici, Sydney Chandler and Grace Van Patten; However, it was finally Arjona who got the role.
The character of Máxima made her debut in Action Comics number 645, in 1989. She presents herself as a warrior queen with superpowers, from the planet Almerac, who will come to Earth in search of the superhero.
Portals such as IGN highlight that this warrior arrives in search of Superman, because as part of her culture she must relate to someone worthy of her power, which is why it is believed that Máxima will be a possible love interest for the superhero.
The Hollywood Reporter highlights that James Gunn’s version could present a Maxima with a more cosmic nature. IGN adds that, over time, the character becomes a superhero and a member of the Justice League.
