Anne Hathaway leads the return of The devil wears fashion 2, in which she resumes her character twenty years later, along with other releases scheduled for 2026. In addition, she was recently chosen by People as the most beautiful woman in the world.
The actress, 43, starred on the cover of the magazine’s annual edition on the same day as the premiere of her latest film at Lincoln Center in New York. Hathaway gushed over the cover during an interview with Taylen Biggs, a correspondent for the star-studded event.
“It was a really fun day,” the Oscar winner said of her photo shoot and interview. Appearing on the cover “wasn’t something I ever, ever, ever expected. But everyone in People “They made me feel very happy to be there,” he continued with a smile.
“It still seems a little surreal to me,” Hathaway added. “Today is the first day. I’m still taking it in, and I hope people make fun of me for it!”
The release of the film
The Devil Wears Prada 2 will be released worldwide on April 30. “In the first part of the film you saw a lot of work clothes, but this second part is an unapologetic fashion show,” said Hathaway this Friday, accompanied by Meryl Streep and her co-stars Emily Blunt and Stanley Tucci, in a press conference with international media attended by EFE.
Two decades after The devil wears fashion (2006), Streep once again puts on the heels of the renowned and feared fashion editor Miranda Priestly, and crosses paths again with her former assistant, Andrea Sachs (Hathaway), now an award-winning investigative journalist.
Streep, who has generally avoided participating in sequels during her career, made an exception this time: “I wanted to know if (Miranda) had her business scruples intact and put her in a new setting,” admits the 76-year-old actress.
On this occasion, Streep adds, the fashion editor faces a critical moment in her reputation and runs the risk of losing control of everything she has built: “As the ship falls apart and she feels that she is in danger, she has to give in, a word that is quite difficult for her (…), but she also realizes how much she depends on the people who have supported her. And I really like these reflections.”
In Hathaway’s case, what attracted her to the character was that it is a more mature and “confident” version of herself, compared to the first film. “I thought it was great that someone who is so clear about her values happens to have a position in the film where she has to figure out if growing up and giving up something are the same thing or different, and how to approach it,” the actress confesses.
Along these lines, Hathaway assures that one of the main challenges during filming was preserving the secrecy of the plot (and the outfits) in the society of immediacy and virality.
Thus, she ended up being the architect of one of the most notable moments of the film, as she proposed to the director, David Frankel, to recreate a fashion catwalk in a “safe” place in Milan, with striking outfits and a performance by Lady Gaga: “I felt that we needed to tell the audience: ‘No, you haven’t seen everything,’” says the actress.
“And since Emily Charlton was not part of the scene, I had the night off, I ate pasta and went for a walk,” adds Emily Blunt wryly, who, like her character, causes immediate laughter in the rest of the actors.
The Devil Wears Prada 2 will hit theaters next week, but it has already become a real revolution. Both Streep and Hathaway have traveled to different countries, from Mexico to Tokyo, passing through London, to promote the feature film, which is expected to be a box office success, like its predecessor.
