The General Directorate of Transportation (DGT) made the change of authorities official this Thursday, April 30, with the appointment of lawyer Pai Ela Escobar Pérez as the new general director of the institution.
According to a statement, the replacement occurs in a context in which the Ministry of Communications, Infrastructure and Housing (CIV) promotes actions to modernize the transportation system, although challenges persist in the quality of service and in the regulation of the sector.
Escobar Pérez assumes the position with the task of monitoring ongoing projects, including the digitalization of procedures and the strengthening of internal controls. According to official information, the new official will seek to consolidate progress and improve customer service.
The previous director, Mynor Estuardo González, will become part of the Vice Ministry of Transportation as an advisor. According to the CIV, it will participate in the promotion of the General Land Transportation Law, a regulation that has not yet been approved and whose progress, according to the institution, reaches 30%.
Among the priorities announced by the new director are the streamlining of processes, the automation of services and institutional strengthening. However, experts warn that these objectives must be translated into concrete improvements for users, especially in issues such as waiting times, security and coverage.
