Ricardo Arjona is not only conquering Buenos Aires with his music but also with his passion for soccer. The Guatemalan singer-songwriter was captured this Saturday in La Bombonera during the match between Boca Juniors and Huracán for the round of 16 of the 2026 Apertura Tournament of Argentine soccer.
Arjona, a well-known and self-confessed Xeneize fan, took advantage of a free afternoon from his tour to attend one of the most emblematic stadiums in Argentine soccer, where he was captured by the official broadcast cameras sitting in one of the main boxes with sunglasses and a hat, trying to go unnoticed, although without success.
His presence soon generated a stir among the more than 50,000 spectators present at La Bombonera, who celebrated seeing the Guatemalan artist experiencing the game with the same intensity as a local fan. Arjona is currently in Buenos Aires completing a historic milestone for any Latin American artist, with 14 consecutive sold-out performances at the Movistar Arena on his tour titled “What El Seco did not say”, who has reaffirmed his status as the most beloved foreign artist in the South American country.

However, the afternoon did not end up being what the singer-songwriter and the Xeneize followers expected. Despite Arjona’s support from the stands, Huracán gave the surprise and won 3-2 in overtime, eliminating Boca Juniors from the 2026 Apertura Tournament. The match had started badly for the locals since Huracán opened the scoring with a goal from Leonardo Gil just in the 5th minute, although Boca managed to come back before the match went to extra time where the visitors ended up sentencing the classification.
Arjona’s visit to La Bombonera is another example of the close relationship that the Guatemalan singer-songwriter maintains with Argentina and with football in general. The artist from Jocotenango, Sacatepéquez, is one of the most recognized Guatemalans in the Latin American entertainment world.
