Kevin González was an 18-year-old young man born in Chicago who suffered from terminal colon cancer and whose story captured attention for his last wish before dying: see and hug his parents for the last time.

González’s story goes back to last Christmas, when he was diagnosed with advanced colon cancer in the terminal phase, after he complained of severe stomach pains.
The cancer spread to the stomach and lungs, so his condition deteriorated as the days went by. Before he died, the young man was at his grandmother’s house, in Durango, Mexico, where he had traveled to join his parents.
However, they were no longer in Mexico, but in an immigration detention center.
Upon learning of her son’s illness, Norma and Isidoro González tried to illegally cross the border to see him.
Due to a history of deportation that occurred in 2011, Kevin’s parents They were unable to obtain a humanitarian or tourist visa to travel to the United States.
