The grand final of Clausura 2026 starts this Saturday, May 16, with the first leg between Municipal and Xelajú MC at the Manuel Felipe Carrera El Trébol Stadium, at 6:00 p.m. in Guatemala.
Mario Acevedo’s Rojos host Roberto Hernández’s Superchivos in what will be the third time that these two teams meet in a final for the title, with the history completely equal between both clubs, with a championship for each in the previous finals played in the Clausura 2010 and the Clausura 2012.
Municipal reaches the final as the most consistent team of the season in the accumulated table, with 86 points, after eliminating Mixco with a crushing aggregate score of 7-0 in the semifinals. Xelajú MC arrives as the leader of the Clausura, with 39 points in the tournament table and with the confidence of having eliminated Comunicaciones with a 4-2 aggregate, although with the significant losses of Rubén Darío Silva and Nery Lobos in goal, which have forced coach Hernández to turn to the young Estuardo Chang between the three sticks.

The second leg of the grand final will be played on Saturday, May 23 at 8 p.m. at the Mario Camposeco Stadium in Quetzaltenango, where Xelajú will seek the Eighth Moon in its history in front of its fans. The winner of the series will be crowned champion of Clausura 2026 and lift the title, in what promises to be a historic final for Guatemalan soccer.
