The search for the next 007 for Amazon MGM Studios is led by British casting director Nina Gold, according to a company statement.
“The search for the next James Bond is already underway. While we do not plan to comment on specific details during the selection process, we are excited to share more news with 007 fans as soon as the time is right,” the film production company said Thursday.
Amazon MGM Studios announced in February 2025 that the process would begin to find a replacement for Craig, who said goodbye to the character with his performance in “No Time to Die” in 2021.
The new agent 007 film will be directed by Denis Villeneuve (Dune, Arrival and Hitman); scripted by Steven Knight; and produced by Amy Pascal and David Heyman, through Pascal Pictures and Heyday Films, respectively.
In addition, the feature film will be executive produced by Tanya Lapointe.
The magazine Variety highlights that Nina Gold’s credits include series such as The Crownas well as films from the saga Star Warsin addition to films like Les Misérables, The Martian and Conclave; and was nominated for an Oscar for her work in Hamnet in 2025.
According to Variety, candidates for the role include Jacob Elordi, Callum Turner and Aaron Taylor-Johnson.
Actors Sean Connery, George Lazenby, Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton, Pierce Brosnan and Daniel Craig have played the fictional character James Bond, created by the British writer Ian Fleming in 1952.
