Through the National Defense Navy, the Guatemalan Army intercepted a vessel with possible illegal activities off the coast of the Guatemalan Pacific, the entity reported.
The action was carried out during routine naval operations in the waters of the Pacific Ocean, 330 nautical miles away, said the spokesperson for the Ministry of National Defense (Mindef), Pamela Figueroa.
It was indicated that the vessel was transporting possible illicit acts and there were six crew members on board, who are of different nationalities.
This was escorted to the Pacific Naval Command dock and made available to the corresponding authorities to begin the judicial process of counting and field tests.
The spokesperson added that the boat was carrying 52 packages, also known as “tulas.”
“These actions are part of the strategies to combat transnational organized crime and prevent this content from reaching the market and being consumed by the population,” Army authorities said.

Meanwhile, the National Civil Police (PNC) reported, preliminarily on their social networks, the capture of six alleged drug traffickers, who were the crew of the boat with possible crimes.
Those captured are three Ecuadorians, one Mexican and two Guatemalans, the PNC added.
