Conred reports more than 200 emergencies and these are the most affected departments

The National Coordinator for Disaster Reduction (Conred) reported that, so far in the 2026 rainy season, 217 emergencies related to this time have been registered in the national territory.

According to information from the Emergency Operations Center, of that number, seven were reported in the last 24 hours.

He added that, in compliance with the National Response Plan, the institutions that make up the Conred System maintain monitoring and communication to address adverse events that could occur due to the rains.

June represents an important month within the rainy season in Guatemala, according to the Insivumeh climate perspective.

For this month, greater accumulations of rain are expected in the regions of the bocacosta, the central highlands and the Caribbean, which is why Conred maintains monitoring of meteorological conditions on a national scale.

In addition, this month marks the beginning of the tropical cyclone season in the Atlantic Ocean, which began on June 1 and will last until November 30.

For this season, according to Insivumeh, the formation of up to 15 storms is forecast in the Atlantic basin, of which between four and seven could reach hurricane status.
