In Honduras, nine of the 18 departments remain on preventive alert since June 8 due to heavy rains associated with Cristina, in addition to the risk of flooding of rivers, streams and streams.

The departments on alert are El Paraíso, in the east; Intibucá, Ocotepeque and Lempira, in the west; La Paz, Francisco Morazán and Comayagua, in the center; and Choluteca and Valle, in the south of the country.

Given this scenario, the Risk Management Secretariat recommended to the population adopt preventive measuresespecially to those who live in vulnerable areas.

The authorities also urged the population to ensure the roofs of homes in the possible presence of strong winds.

In El Salvador, the General Directorate of Civil Protection issued an orange alert nationwide because the passage of the tropical storm will bring moisture from the Pacific Ocean.

Costa Rica has been one of the countries most affected by Cristina. The Red Cross of that country reported five missing people due to the strong waves recorded in the Pacific Ocean.

The storm’s path is heading towards El Salvador, with possible dissipation far north of that country next Thursday“reported the National Institute of Seismology, Volcanology, Meteorology and Hydrology (Insivumeh).

Currently, Cristina is located 260 kilometers from the municipality of Moyuta, in the southeast of Guatemala, department of Jutiapa, It moves slowly and remains near the coast of Chinandega, Nicaragua.

The Insivumeh assured that Cristina “will no longer have a direct impact in Guatemala”; However, due to its proximity, it predicts an increase in rain and winds from the south towards the center of the country during next Wednesday and Thursday.
