The General Hospital of the National Civil Police (PNC), projected to expand medical care for agents and their families, would have an approximate cost of Q555 million, according to police authorities during a meeting with Deputy José Chic.
The Minister of the Interior, Marco Antonio Villeda, reported on June 4 that the work would have a cost of Q32 million and that it was in the pre-investment phase.
The Department of Social Communication of the PNC explained that those Q32 million They correspond to the first disbursement contemplated for the project and which is included in the budget. However, the total cost of the work, including construction and equipment, would amount to Q555 million.
During the summons, PNC authorities explained that on May 27, the technical visit to the land where the care center will be built was carried out.
“It was the technical visit to the polygon where the Police General Hospital is going to be built and right now what we are waiting for is that on June 22 the offers can be received. Six companies already interested in the project arrived at the technical visit,” indicated the PNC authorities during the summons.
They added that the pre-investment phase includes an investment of Q6 million and that the award is scheduled for the end of September.
They explained that the award is planned for approximately September 30, 2026.
According to police authorities, although an allocation for the project was included in the Income and Expenditure Law, there are still limitations related to financing sources.
“What happens is that there is talk of Q30 million that remained within the Income and Expenditure Law, but the problem is that within the law they did not specify the sources of financing and the Ministry of Finance has always indicated that it must come from the general budget assigned to the Ministry of the Interior,” they stated.
They indicated that for this year only the execution of the resources destined for pre-investment is planned.
“Even within the Annual Purchasing Plan, in a multi-annual section, we are already in the projection of the same thing that remained within the law, that each year the economies are going to be adjusted,” they added.
