The Argentinian Javier Mascherano announced this Tuesday his decision to resign from the position of technical director of Inter Miami for personal reasons.
“I want to inform you that, for personal reasons, I have decided to end my time as coach of Inter Miami CF,” said the former player in a statement distributed by the club.
Mascherano, who leaves office unexpectedly, thanked the team for the trust Miami placed its trust in him since his arrival as coach in November 2024, with which he won his first MLS title.
“I will always carry with me the memory of our first star and, wherever I am, I will continue to wish the club the best in the future. I have no doubt that the team will continue to achieve success,” the letter adds.
Coach Guillermo Hoyos will replace Mascherano in the next matches. In his first season in charge, Mascherano guided Inter Miami to one of its most successful campaigns, winning the MLS Cup title.
Under his leadership, the team achieved a record-breaking season in the 2025, scoring 101 goals between the regular season and playoffs, the most in a single season in MLS historyaccording to club figures. Mascherano leaves Inter Miami along with the coaching staff that arrived with him in January 2024.
The club announced it through an official statement in which it stated the following: “Javier Mascherano has decided to end his time as Head Coach. A champion who, together with his coaching staff, will always be part of the @InterMiamiCF family and will be forever linked to obtaining our first star.”.”
