On April 14, a 21-year-old man was sentenced in New York for the death of a woman, whose body was found in her apartment in Kips Bay.
According to Univisión, the convicted person, identified as Halley Tejada, could face between 20 years in prison and life in prison, after be sentenced in a Manhattan court.
Authorities reported that Tejada pleaded guilty in December of last year, while prosecutors described the incident as “a brutal attack committed in the same place where the victim lived.”
The crime occurred on March 12, 2024 in an apartment located at 206 East 31st Street, in Manhattan, according to authorities and media.
The victim, identified as Nadie Vitels, lived in the property, which previously belonged to his mother, who had died months before. The woman found Tejada with her 20-year-old partner, who began living there illegally.
Prosecutors claimed that Vitels told the couple that She left the apartment, but Tejada threatened to kill her.
They added that the convicted man persecuted Vitels, He knocked her down and stomped on her, causing multiple injuries to her skull.
