The National Football Federation of Guatemala (Fedefut) confirmed this Wednesday a new international commitment for the National Team, led by the Mexican coach Luis Fernando Tena.
The Blue and White will face the Czech Republic in a friendly match, World Cup team, as part of the international tour of the Chapín team, where they will have 3 matches against World Cup teams.
The match against the Czechs will be part of the European team’s preparation for the World Cup, a tournament in which they share a group with the host Mexico, as well as South Africa and the Republic of Korea.
The match against Czech Republic will be the first of three friendlies that Guatemala will play in this demanding international tour. Subsequentlythe Bicolor has scheduled matches against the teams of Ecuador and Austria, both with participation in the 2026 World Cup.
The duel against the Europeans will be played on Thursday, June 4 at the Sports Illustrated Stadium, located in Harrison, New Jersey, and is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. in Guatemala.
These commitments represent a demanding test for the process led by Luis Fernando Tena, who seeks to consolidate his idea of the game against high-level rivals. During this year, the National Team has already played friendly matches, although the results have not been as expected.
In their first match they lost by the slightest difference against Canada, while in March they suffered a 7-0 defeat against Algeria, in a match played in Italy.
The international tour will serve as a key opportunity to measure the level of the Chapín team, correct errors and strengthen the Bicolor project for future official commitments.
