Two bags with human remains were located this Wednesday, April 22, at kilometer 9 of the old route to Chinautla, in a sector located on the limits of zone 6 of the capital, the Volunteer Firefighters reported.

The lifeguards indicated that the plastic bags were in a ditch on the side of the road and that they are presumed to contain human remains. The area was guarded while the authorities carried out the corresponding procedures.

The discovery occurs hours after a series of violent events recorded in the same area. On Tuesday, April 21, An armed attack on 6th Avenue B and 16th Street in the Cipresales neighborhood, zone 6, left two people dead and two women injured, who were transferred to the San Juan de Dios General Hospital.

According to the Volunteer Firefighters, the victims were attacked by unknown gunshots.

One day before, Monday, An armed attack on a cevicheria in that sector left six dead —two women and four men—and two wounded, including a 5-year-old child.

The authorities investigate if the facts are related.

Data from the National Institute of Forensic Sciences (Inacif) indicate that homicides with firearms increased 3.8% in 2025 compared to 2024. Last year, 3,020 cases were registered, compared to 2,910 the previous year.
