During the intermediate stage hearing for the kidnapping of the dentist Julio Amílcar Martínez Murillothe Public Ministry (MP) presented this Monday, May 11, material evidence that, according to the Anti-Kidnapping Prosecutor’s Office, seeks to reinforce the hypothesis that there was an organized structure behind the disappearance of the victim, which occurred on May 28, 2025.
Among the evidence exposed are cell phones, firearms, uniforms with insignia of the National Civil Police (PNC), surveillance videos, fingerprints and bank account statements.
The Prosecutor’s Office explained before the judge that the evidence maintains chains of custody. In addition, among the seized objects there are two watches; a firearm possession card; sunglasses; two intercoms; uniforms similar to those of the PNC; a police shirt; a chumpa; a helmet; nine pistol magazines; seven guns; a gun sight; a rifle and at least 680 firearm cartridges.
The Prosecutor’s Office also incorporated as evidence fingerprints, banking information, hearing audios and surveillance videos obtained in residential and commercial areas.
According to the investigating entity, these elements aim to strengthen the accusation against those accused of being part of the criminal structure linked to the kidnapping or kidnapping of the dentist.
The intermediate stage hearing is scheduled to continue during this day, in which the defense of Julio Leonardo Alejandro Girón Castañeda He will present his arguments before the judge regarding the evidence and allegations made by the Public Ministry.
Case continues without traces of the dentist
Martínez Murillo was kidnapped on May 28, 2025, when he was en route to El Salvador, towards his clinic in El Jocotillo, Villa Canales.
According to the MP’s investigation, the dentist was followed by at least three vehicles since he left a shopping center. The surveillance cameras would have captured one of the cars in which Julio Leonardo Alejandro Girón Castañeda was traveling, identified by the Prosecutor’s Office as the alleged ringleader of the structure.
The fiscal hypothesis maintains that Martínez Murillo was intercepted at kilometer 38, in a desolate sector, while he was talking on the phone with his secretary.
During that call, another person’s voice was heard ordering him to continue driving. Communication was interrupted and since then his whereabouts have been unknown.
One day after the kidnapping, negotiations began with the dentist’s wife. According to telephone interceptions exposed by the Prosecutor’s Office, the kidnappers demanded Q5 million.
The investigations indicate that on June 5, 2025, the payment of Q763 thousand in cash was agreed at a gas station located at the end of Hincapié Avenue, zone 13.
According to the investigation, the money was collected by Juan Ubaldo Tzul Castillo, who would have used a motorcycle helmet to avoid being identified by surveillance cameras.

Captured and judicial process
For this case they remain linked to the Julio Leonardo Alejandro Girón Castañeda process; Carlos Antonio González y González; Juan Ubaldo Tzul Castillo; Juan Oswaldo Tzul Hernández and Paola Isabel Díaz Ramírez. Besides, Anelsi Adelí Quiñones Corado remains a fugitive.
The MP maintains that Girón Castañeda had maintained a close relationship with the dentist for more than 12 years, a situation that, according to the investigation, would have allowed us to know his routines and movements.
