Héctor Francisco Juárez, 46 years old, was shot to death this Wednesday, May 13, at kilometer 191 of the RD-REU-06 route, La Libertad village, Nuevo San Carlos, Retalhuleu, emergency services reported.
According to preliminary versions, the victim left his home to buy bread, got out of his vehicle and, upon entering the business, was surprised by armed men who shot him repeatedly and then fled the scene.
First responders responded to the scene and located the man inside the bakery with multiple gunshot wounds. Lifeguard Fridel López reported that, after the corresponding evaluation, it was confirmed that the victim had died due to the severity of the injuries.
Agents of the National Civil Police cordoned off the area while they waited for the arrival of the Public Ministry to remove the body and collect ballistic evidence, which will be essential to establish the motive for the crime and identify those responsible.
This is the second armed attack reported in Nuevo San Carlos during this month. On May 4, another violent event occurred in front of the town’s municipal hall, where one man died and another was seriously injured in an armed attack perpetrated by unknown people.
