According to CNN, State Department spokesperson Tommy Pigott stated that the decision was made after “a series of very productive talks between Israel and Lebanon”.

Pigott pointed out that on May 29 there will also be a new meeting on security matters at the Pentagon, where military delegations from Israel and Lebanon will participate.
“We hope that these discussions will move towards lasting peace between the two countries, full recognition of each other’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, and the establishment of genuine security along their shared border,” said the spokesperson on the X social network.
