Child safety has been one of the topics of concern for American families, which is why various digital sectors have taken measures. One of them is the platform Roblox video gameswhich has modified access to its content according to the user’s age.
According to the Roblox portal, the corporation introduces new age-based accounts and parental controls aimed at users under 16 years of age, seeking to filter content and communication based on age.
Through its press room, Roblox presented two new types of accounts that adapt to the age of children and adolescent users: the Roblox Kids account, aimed at users aged 5 to 8 years.
Likewise, he presented his second account called Roblox Select, aimed at a teenage audience between 9 and 15 years old. Roblox highlighted that these accounts will be launched in early June 2026, which will allow access to the platform to be limited and controlled.
Both accounts will be under parental control, with changes to options for users ages 5 to 15. Roblox also reported that it designs a continuous selection process for the games that users under 16 years of age will have access to.
These measures will give parents greater control over children and adolescents, as they integrate age verification, account-level default settings, content ratings, continuous moderation and parental controls, so that minors only access content appropriate to their age.
For users over 16 years of age, these changes will have no further effect once the age data is verified. The new accounts will have the following features:
Roblox Kids
- Children’s content games
- Games with a “mild or minimal” maturity label will be limited
- Communication functions are disabled
Roblox Select
- Games with a “moderate” maturity label will be limited
- Default communications settings for users ages 9 to 15
As part of the development process, Roblox highlights that as the age of users increases, accounts will change. For this new stage it will be necessary to verify the age; Those who do not do so will only have access to mildly classified content, similar to that of accounts for children under 9 years of age.
Additionally, Roblox announced that it has expanded its parental control policies, allowing parents to manage content ratings, time on the platform, and even who users’ friends are.
They will also be able to block individual games and direct chats up to the age of 15.
