The presence of agents of the National Civil Police, prosecutors of the Public Ministry and relief bodies in the two scenes generated partial closures and reduction of lanes, which complicates vehicular circulation on Liberación Boulevard and in the La Reformita neighborhood, with effects on routes to the areas 9, 10, 13 and 14according to reports from the Municipal Traffic Police.

According to preliminary reports, calls to number 123 alerted about a vehicle on public roads. When inspecting the car, rescuers located a package that could contain human remains. Later, authorities confirmed the presence of the body inside the vehicle.

Amílcar Montejo, traffic mayor of the capital, indicated that the victim could have been reported missing since the weekend. Agents of the National Civil Police guarded the scene, while the Public Ministry carries out proceedings to identify the victim and establish the circumstances of the incident.

Armed attack leaves people injured and causes clashes in Liberación

In another incident, an armed attack occurred on Liberación Boulevard and 2a. avenue in zone 8 injured a man and a woman who were driving in a black truck.

According to reports, unknown assailants intercepted the vehicle in full traffic and shot at its occupants. After the attack, the driver lost control and collided with another car in which older adults were traveling.

Montejo indicated that the impact on circulation affects users who travel to zones 9, 10, 13 and 14, due to partial closures and presence of authorities in both sectors.

The injured woman arrived on her own at a Municipal Fire Station near the sector, where both victims received pre-hospital care. Subsequently, they were transferred in a delicate condition to the trauma emergency of the Guatemalan Social Security Institute.

The older adults had a nervous breakdown, but it was not necessary to transfer them to a healthcare center.

The emergency response on Liberación Boulevard and the processing of the scene in zone 12 generated road complications in different parts of the city.

Added to these facts is another discovery in the La Reformita neighborhood, zone 12, where Municipal Firefighters verified possible human remains wrapped in sheets on 11th Avenue and 26th Street. Preliminarily, authorities indicated that there could be two bodies. The Public Ministry was notified and lane reductions were recorded in the area due to the processing of the scene.

The authorities continue with the investigations to clarify both facts and determine responsibilities, while the scenes remain under guard and the ongoing proceedings maintain restrictions on circulation in the affected sectors.
