TSE temporarily suspends its website as a preventive measure

The Supreme Electoral Tribunal (TSE) reported this May 1 that it temporarily suspended its website www.tse.org.gt in response to the wave of hacks registered on different Government portals. He indicated that the measure seeks to prevent the electoral roll and other sensitive data from being vulnerable.

The statement mentions that, given the information that has circulated about possible cyber attacks on different State institutions, the institution launched a contingency plan to protect institutional systems and safeguard the integrity of the information.

“So far, the contingency plan and technical evaluations continue to be developed, and the necessary actions are maintained to prevent unauthorized access and strengthen institutional security measures,” the document reads.

Explain that, due to this process, some electronic services may present temporary interruptions.

On the website, the TSE mentions that the Response and Containment Plan for Computer Security Threats was implemented.

He points out that with this they seek to protect institutional systems and safeguard the information of citizens and political parties.

At the moment, TSE authorities have not reported how long the site will be suspended.
